Following the success of our first Shepherd’s Hut we have commissioned the build of a second one. This
page shows the progress of the new hut, with the most recent news at the top.
We expect the new hut to be available for holiday guests from the late spring of 2022. We will keep subscribers to our mailing list updated with progress, and they will the first to hear when it will be available for booking.
Like the existing hut, the new one will be for 1-2 people, have on-suite facilities, a fitted kitchen, underfloor heating and log burner.
It will also have its own private patio and access to shared exercise field on-site.
The outside is now complete and we are well under way with the inside. We expect to be testing the hut in April and will then announce its availability to our email subscribers first.
The hut building exterior is making good progress with the double glazed windows and doors now fitted. The interior fit out is also well under way. The hut will have the same views as our original
hut, with fencing between them for privacy.
The assembled frame and cladding was stripped down, delivered to site and re-assembled. The main fit-out has started. All the main bought-in units are now on order – like bathroom and kitchen fittings and equipment.
Our chosen local woodworker has made great progress on the frame of the hut. He was heavily involved with our barn conversions at Bed and Basket, so he knows the level of quality we expect, and the need to be exceptionally dog-friendly.
After requests from guests, and seeing how popular the first hut has been, we decided to build a second one.
We decided to use local craftspeople to build it for the quality of build we know they will make, and to provide local employment. The components will be built locally, and then assembled on site. This will eliminate the need to
have a large vehicle transporter travel many miles to bring the hut on site.
